In a move to bolster regional security, police forces from Vietnam’s Tây Ninh Province and Cambodia’s Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, and Tboung Khmum provinces have committed to enhanced cooperation along their shared border. This agreement aims to tackle the persistent challenges of cross-border crime that affect both nations.
During a recent conference held in Tây Ninh, officials from the four provinces assessed their ongoing collaborative efforts and explored strategies to improve their response to various criminal activities. These include drug trafficking, human trafficking, smuggling, money laundering, and online fraud. The meeting underscored the critical need for direct communication and regular interaction to facilitate swift information exchange and effective case management.
The provinces have maintained a system of information exchanges and coordinated approaches to criminal activities, emphasizing the importance of synchronized efforts. As part of their agreement, the forces plan to increase patrols and monitoring of border trails and crossings to deter illegal movements that could enable organized transnational crime.
Additionally, the joint efforts will focus on enhancing cooperation against terrorism, arms trafficking, and high-tech crime. The provinces also aim to address emerging non-traditional security threats, reflecting a comprehensive approach to maintaining public order and safety in the border areas.
The conference concluded with the signing of a memorandum of cooperation, solidifying the commitment of these provincial police forces to strengthen crime prevention measures and ensure continued security along their borders.
