Cambodia is intensifying its efforts to modernize its transport and logistics infrastructure, aiming to boost trade competitiveness and enhance connectivity with regional and global supply networks. This strategic initiative is outlined in the Comprehensive Master Plan on the Cambodian Intermodal Transport and Logistics System 2023–2033, which details a decade-long strategy to develop the country’s roads, railways, waterways, ports, and aviation systems.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet, a recent Council of Ministers meeting focused on evaluating the progress of infrastructure improvements, examining current supply chain efficiencies, and discussing strategies to reduce transit costs. The government is particularly focused on improving the links between domestic markets and international trade corridors, which is crucial for enhancing export capabilities and attracting foreign investment.
The Cambodian government has identified 174 projects as part of this comprehensive plan, covering various aspects of the transportation and logistics sectors. These projects are designed to support the growth of manufacturing, agro-processing, and higher-value industries, thereby solidifying Cambodia’s role in regional and global trade networks.
As these infrastructure enhancements take shape, Cambodia aims to become a more attractive destination for foreign investors and increase its contribution to the international supply chain. By addressing key logistical challenges, the country hopes to facilitate smoother trade operations and strengthen its economic position in the competitive regional market.
