Indonesia’s fuel prices stand out as among the most competitive in Southeast Asia, as reported by the country’s state-owned energy company. The nation offers the region’s cheapest RON 92 gasoline, domestically marketed as Pertamax, at approximately Rp15,950 ($0.89) per litre. This price point is notably lower than those in neighboring countries such as Singapore, the Philippines, and Thailand.
In addition to RON 92, Indonesia also boasts the lowest price for RON 95 gasoline, at around Rp19,150 ($1.07) per litre. This compares favorably to Rp19,822 in Malaysia, Rp21,412 in Thailand, Rp25,288 in the Philippines, and a striking Rp48,795 in Singapore. Such figures underscore Indonesia’s position as a regional leader in maintaining affordable fuel costs.
Indonesia’s aviation fuel prices further cement its status as a cost-effective option in the region, with prices at about Rp20,190 ($1.13) per litre. Vietnam follows closely at Rp20,619, while other countries like Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia exhibit significantly higher prices.
While Indonesia ranks third in diesel affordability at approximately Rp25,200 ($1.41) per litre, trailing behind Vietnam and Malaysia, its overall competitive pricing in major fuel categories highlights its effective management of energy costs.
These price comparisons illustrate Indonesia’s advantageous position within Southeast Asia’s fuel market, offering some of the lowest prices across key fuel categories, which can have significant economic implications for both consumers and the broader regional market.
