In an effort to bolster collaboration between Vietnamese provinces and northeastern Cambodia, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyễn Minh Vũ recently led a delegation to the Cambodian regions of Stung Treng and Kratie. The visit aimed at assessing the activities of Vietnamese businesses and the living conditions of the community with Vietnamese roots in these areas.
During discussions with local Cambodian leaders, both parties explored avenues to enhance cooperation in various sectors such as trade, agriculture, infrastructure, energy, and investment. Cambodian officials underscored the strengthening of relations with Vietnamese provinces through established cooperation agreements, business interactions, and developmental initiatives.
Officials in Kratie province expressed appreciation for the advancements achieved in diplomatic and socio-economic partnerships with Vietnam. They highlighted Vietnam’s support in infrastructure development and joint efforts in the search and repatriation of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who perished during the Cambodian conflict.
Ambassador Nguyễn Minh Vũ lauded the role of Vietnamese companies involved in agriculture, mining, and rubber production within Cambodia, asserting that these ventures have contributed to local economic development and fortified bilateral relations. Meanwhile, authorities in Stung Treng pointed out the province’s potential for investment in high-tech agriculture and eco-tourism, inviting more Vietnamese enterprises to explore these opportunities.
Additionally, the ambassador engaged with representatives from the Vietnamese-origin community, addressing legal and livelihood matters. He encouraged adherence to local laws while advocating for support in education and sustainable development. With over 200 investment projects valued at approximately $3 billion, Vietnam stands as one of Cambodia’s major foreign investors.
